There has finally been some sort of clarification on the Blackberry banned issue in India. Earlier this week it was reported in the news that the BlackBerry service provided by Indian telecom operators would be banned.

The DoT has now come out saying that if they really wanted to stop this serive, they would have banned it a long time ago. The DoT has also revealed that they have continually met with the mobile phone operators in the last months to resolve this issue.

Currently Blackberry services are offered by Airtel, BPL Mobile, Vodafone, and  Reliance Communications. This issue came to light when Tata Teleservices applied for a license to offer the service.

The DoT claims, that TTML did not provide enough information on their capability to monitor the data transmitted over the BlackBerry phones. A meet between the DoT and the service providers will again take place tomorrow on this issue.
